Get Involved
We are looking for community members to volunteer for the association. There are three main ways to support/volunteer for the association:
1. Lobana Sub Committees
The association has six regular sub committees:
1. Membership Sub-Committee
2. Social Work Sub-Committee
3. Governance and Audit Sub-Committee
4. Education and Mentorship Sub-Committee
5. Social Events Sub-Committee
6. Marketing and Communications Sub-Committee
1. Membership Sub-Committee assists the executive committee in
- Increasing the membership of the Association.
- Registering new members into the Association.
- Conducting membership drives.
- Resolving any membership related issues.
2. Social Work Sub-Committee assists the executive committee in
- Coming up with ideas on the Charity work to be conducted on behalf of the Association
- Soliciting volunteers from the Association, and conducting Charity work on behalf of the Association.
3. Governance and Audit Sub-Committee assists executive committee in
- Coming up with any changes in the constitution and by-laws required for the Association. Note that any such changes are required to be approved by the General Body before they are considered official.
- Conducting reviews of the financial standing, or the official financial statements, or any specific issues, as authorized by the Executive Committee on an annual basis.
- Dealing with any Governance related issues on behalf of the Executive Committee.
4.Education and Mentorship Sub-Committee assists executive committee in
- Conducting Educational Seminars on behalf of the Association.
- Inviting Professional and other established members of the community to serve as Mentors for the Youth, new Immigrants, and other community members.
- Setting up processes to connect Mentors to the Mentees.
- Selecting and awarding merit awards on an annual basis.
5. Social Events Sub-Committee assists executive committee in
- Conducting the activities required to run an Annual Picnic, Annual Holiday Party, and two Akhand Paths.
- Coming up with additional new ideas to create more Social association between the members of the Community.
- Coordinating volunteers assisting on the major events organized by the Association.
6. Marketing and Communications Sub-Committee assist executive committee in
- Marketing and Communication Efforts of the Association.
- Managing the Website, Facebook, Newsletter, and any other publications on behalf of the Association.
2. Volunteer at the Events:
When we are organizing major events for the community, we are always looking for volunteers. If you wish to be volunteer for any of our events, you can email us.
To become a sub-committee member, or be an event volunteer, please send us an email at volunteer@lobana.org
In your email, please include whether you wish to be involved in one of the sub-committees, or just wish to volunteer at the events. If you wish to be involved in the sub-committees, please let us know in the email, your preferred sub-committee, your experience related to work of the sub-committee, and your ongoing availability of time to work on the sub-committee’s activities. Sub-committee member work requires at least a half day/week, or two days/month time commitment.
3. Sponsor the Events
As the association organizes social and charitable activities for the community, and Canada at large, we require your support in funding these activities. We request you to sponsor these events to support your community association. Sponsorship funds can be provided anywhere from $100 to $1000, based on your ability to support.
